Device Setup

IPTV on Android TV: Complete Setup Guide

Android TV and Android boxes are among the most flexible platforms for IPTV. The Google Play Store includes several high-quality IPTV player apps, and most Android TV devices handle HD and 4K streaming without difficulty.

Compatible Android TV devices

  • Nvidia Shield Pro — premium Android TV device with excellent processing power for 4K IPTV
  • Chromecast with Google TV — affordable and widely available
  • Mecool and Ugoos Android boxes — purpose-built Android TV boxes
  • Sony Android TVs — built-in Android TV, no additional device needed

Installing a player app

On Android TV, go to the Google Play Store and search for:

  • TiviMate — widely regarded as the best IPTV player for Android TV. The free version supports one playlist; the premium version (one-time purchase) removes restrictions.
  • IPTV Smarters Pro — free, feature-rich, supports Xtream Codes and M3U
  • Perfect Player — lightweight, simple interface

Setting up TiviMate on Android TV

  1. Install TiviMate from the Play Store
  2. Open TiviMate and select Add Playlist
  3. Choose Xtream Codes
  4. Enter your server URL, username and password from your IPTV UK Hub welcome email
  5. The app will load your channels and EPG automatically

See our full TiviMate setup guide for configuring EPG, favourites and playback settings.

Setting up IPTV Smarters on Android TV

  1. Install IPTV Smarters Pro from the Play Store
  2. Select Login with Xtream Codes API
  3. Enter your server URL, username and password
  4. Tap Add User

Improving performance

Android TV boxes with an Ethernet port benefit significantly from a wired connection. For Wi-Fi use, ensure your device is on the 5GHz band rather than 2.4GHz for better throughput. Clear the IPTV app's cache if the channel list becomes slow to respond.
