Amazon Firestick and Fire TV are among the most popular devices for IPTV in the UK. They are inexpensive, plug directly into an HDMI port, and support the main IPTV player applications. This guide covers the complete setup process from scratch.
What you need
- An Amazon Firestick, Firestick 4K, Firestick 4K Max, Fire TV Cube, or Fire TV Edition
- A Wi-Fi connection (or Ethernet adapter for a wired connection)
- An IPTV subscription — your server URL, username and password from IPTV UK Hub
Step 1: Enable apps from unknown sources
Amazon's default settings only allow apps from the Amazon App Store. You need to change this to install IPTV player apps.
- Go to Settings on your Firestick home screen
- Select My Fire TV (or "Device" on older models)
- Select Developer Options
- Turn on Apps from Unknown Sources
Step 2: Install the Downloader app
Downloader is available free from the Amazon App Store and allows you to install apps not listed in the Store.
- Press the home button and go to Find > Search
- Search for Downloader
- Install the Downloader app from AFTVnews
Step 3: Install IPTV Smarters Pro
IPTV Smarters Pro is the most widely used IPTV player for Firestick. It supports both Xtream Codes and M3U login methods.
- Open Downloader
- In the URL field, type: https://www.iptvsmarters.com and navigate to the APK download link for Android
- Download and install the APK when prompted
- Open IPTV Smarters from your apps
Alternatively, search for "IPTV Smarters" directly in the Amazon App Store — some versions are listed there and can be installed without sideloading.
Step 4: Add your subscription
- Open IPTV Smarters Pro
- Select Login with Xtream Codes API
- Enter your subscription details:
— Username: provided in your IPTV UK Hub welcome email
— Password: provided in your welcome email
— URL: the server address provided in your welcome email - Tap Add User
The app will connect to the server and download your channel list and EPG. This may take a minute or two on first load.
Step 5: Start watching
Once loaded, you will see your channel categories on the left panel. Select Live TV, choose a category, and select a channel to begin streaming.
Tips for better performance
- Use a wired Ethernet connection via an Ethernet adapter for your Firestick if you experience buffering over Wi-Fi
- Position the Firestick away from obstructions and close to your router if using Wi-Fi
- If a stream buffers, try an alternative stream quality if offered within the player
