Xtream Codes is a server-side IPTV management system and API (Application Programming Interface) that became the de facto standard for how IPTV services communicate with player applications. Most modern IPTV players — TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro, GSE Smart IPTV and others — support Xtream Codes login natively.
How Xtream Codes works
Instead of a static M3U file, Xtream Codes provides a server address, username and password. When you log in with these credentials, your player sends requests to the server API which responds dynamically with your channel list, VOD library, series, catch-up data and EPG. Everything is fetched on demand from the server rather than contained in a single static file.
The three Xtream Codes credentials
- Server URL — the address of the IPTV server (e.g. http://server.example.com:8080). This is provided in your IPTV UK Hub welcome email.
- Username — your account username, unique to your subscription.
- Password — your account password.
Why Xtream Codes is preferred over M3U
- Channel list, VOD, series and EPG are all served through a single connection
- Catch Up TV is supported natively
- Account status (expiry date, connection limit) is returned by the API
- Channel updates on the server apply immediately without needing to re-download a static file
How to log in with Xtream Codes
In IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate, select "Add Playlist" or "Add User" and choose the Xtream Codes option. Enter your server URL, username and password. The player connects to the API, verifies your credentials, and loads your content. See our IPTV Smarters setup guide and TiviMate setup guide for step-by-step instructions.
